HAU Hosts Orientation Sessions for Launch of First Semester
March 25, 2016
Habitat America University (HAU) held orientation sessions this week for its first ever group of students who will be participating in the program’s certificate and diploma programs. During the orientation sessions program administrators, Ninette Patrick and Ellen Spriggs, reviewed each program’s expectations, curriculum and course timeline with the students. 44 employees are enrolled in HAU’s first semester.
Both Certificate and Diploma programs are offered in the Property Management and Maintenance fields. Depending on the student’s current level of knowledge, he or she could choose to earn the following Habitat America designations: Certified Assistant Manager, Certified Property Manager, Certified Maintenance Technician or a Certified Maintenance Supervisor.
HAU was designed with the objective to increase the knowledge of Habitat America employees by offering them courses that will give them the skills required to not only perform their duties but enable them to become qualified for advancement within Habitat America. To participate in any of the advanced learning pathways, students had to complete an application, submit a resume and provide two letters of recommendations. Any Habitat America employee who is in good standing and seeking an opportunity for growth was encouraged to apply.
Supported through Vision Learning Management System, HAU allows Habitat America employees to access multifamily online training courses and learning games through Grace Hill, in addition to internal company classes, resources and documents. Students can interact with the company-specific learning tools and enroll in all educational opportunities from the all-in-one online portal or from a mobile device. The system also allows users to track their test scores and movement as they progress through their program type.
Ellen Spriggs, Marketing and Training Manager, and Ninette Patrick, Regional Property Manager, spearheaded the implementation of HAU with the full support from Habitat America’s President, Cathy Murphy.
